Showcase Features

Live Connected Demonstration Area:

• HIMSS Interoperability Showcase new Live Exchange features practical demonstrations of organizations that have successfully deployed interoperable standards-based systems to achieve meaningful use with IHE (Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise) & other standards-based solutions.
• Community of Care Use Case Demonstrations: At the HIMSS11 Interoperability Showcase healthcare settings will be organized into Communities of Care representing a “team” of health-related services and facilities providing healthcare to patients in a specific community. Each Community of Carewill simulate the same interactions patients have with their healthcare providers in their local community and will highlight use cases and standards implemented today in clinical care settings world-wide.
• HIMSS11 Attendee Tours: Participate in a focused tour of the HIMSS Connected Demonstration area and visit a unique Community of Care based on your interests. At the start of the tour, participants will create their own electronic health record (EHR) or personal health record (PHR) and watch their EHR as it is shared across multiple healthcare settings as described in the use case. This process demonstrates the effective use of patient data to improve patient care.

Educational Opportunities:

• Showcase Theaters: HIMSS11 attendees can choose from over 50+ presentations given by industry thought leaders, health IT developers and clinician end-users that will feature interoperability insights, and success stories. Presentations will be held continuously throughout the conference in one of two Showcase Theaters. The Showcase Theater schedules will be available online starting in February 2011 so that visitors can plan their visit in advance. View additional information and details online.  
• Ask the experts at the Showcase Help Desks: Speak with industry experts stationed at the Showcase Help Desks who volunteered to be available to help answer questions and help their healthcare colleagues make progress down the road of achieving health IT interoperability.
• New this year- Surf-the-Showcase: Using the Surf-the-Showcase stations attendees can print HIMSS Interoperability Showcase use cases, success stories Showcase Theater presentations and schedules, and access a wide variety of detailed information before leaving the showcase floor.
