Three categories of participation

Connected Demonstration - Leadership or Implementer Level

The Connected Demonstration is the classic activity for which HIMSS’ Interoperability Showcases are best known where IHE and/or HITSP-based applications are showcased through the demonstration of realistic clinically-accurate scenarios [or stories]. The HIMSS Interoperability Showcase was launched in 2004 with 30 vendors with 5 scenarios — the 2009 Showcase had 70 participants and 20+ scenarios— a true statement to the continued growth and availability of standards-based interoperable health IT products.

Criteria for participation in the Connected Demonstration:

1. Applications must include IHE Technical Frameworks or HITSP Interoperability Specifications
2. Pass the requirements of the IHE 2010 North American Connectathon
3. Meet milestones and deliverables as outlined in the HIMSS10 Interoperability Showcase
   Terms & Conditions.

Non-Profit Organizations & Government HIT Initiatives

The Showcase is pleased to host many non-profit organizations and government-sponsored HIT initiatives that want to educate attendees on their involvement in standards-based health information exchanges (HIE). Located in high visibility stand-alone kiosks that frame the Showcase floor, these entities play a critical role in demonstrating the depth and breadth of standards–based health information exchange supporters and their related projects in the U.S. and worldwide.

Criteria for participation: Open to Non-Profit Organizations and Governments/Ministries that support HIT and wish to share information about their activities or initiatives. Participants may provide educational information in their kiosk area on a computer with large monitor (monitors up to 24 inches permitted).

Recent participants in this category include the following:

• Electronic Health Record Association (EHRA): EHRA supports vendors and other healthcare stakeholders focused on the Electronic Health Record.
• IHE-Japan: IHE is a global organization that supports the development and adoption of standards-based health IT products by focusing on identifying and harmonizing proven standards from across the globe. IHE is being implemented around the world and national deployment committees use the Showcase venue to demonstrate their involvement.

Interoperability Supporter
We are pleased to offer an opportunity for interoperability supporters, to sponsor the Showcase and take advantage of the extensive marketing activities that surround the Showcase without requiring an onsite presence. Supporter logos run in all of the same venues as other Showcase participants and sponsors. This is a great option for companies, organizations and agencies that want to take advantage of brand-building activities and to ensure that your name is connected to the leading players in the interoperability and standards marketplace.

Criteria for participation: Open to Companies and Organizations that support IHE, HITSP and the ongoing development of standards-based health IT solutions.
